Somatic Experiencing®

Somatic Experiencing® is a body-oriented therapeutic model for healing trauma.

Somatic Experiencing® (SE™) has provided me with a deeper knowing of the body as a container for, and a releaser of, trauma. This has deepened my appreciation for the pain and suffering that accompanies being a human, as well as the possibility for resilient growth.

Some choose to see me for SE™ as an adjunct to ongoing therapy with their therapist, or for a few sessions, to work through a particular trauma or ailment. It can also be woven into ongoing individual or couples therapy.

Trauma is not defined by the event but rather your experience of the event. Even what others might perceive as “minor” could make a huge impact on your nervous system.

What Somatic Experiencing® could help with:

  • phobias

  • a physical ailment with no physiological cause

  • voice concerns, finding your voice

  • medical trauma

  • birthing trauma

  • healthcare worker trauma

  • car accidents or other accidents

  • natural disaster survival

  • abuse of any kind

  • systemic trauma

  • sexism/racism/ableism/homophobia

The curious paradox is that when I accept myself, just as I am, then I can change.
